The David Hockney Building at Bradford College replaces outdated facilities bringing several of the city centre faculties into one building. The campus design has a light and airy feel, occupying a huge floor area of 23,000m².
Zioxi were asked to provide an innovative and collaborative furniture solution for the large, open-plan space in the centre of the building which would be used as a new ‘Skills Hub’. A space where both staff and students can develop their non-perishable, transferrable and academic skills, alongside their vocational studies. The launch event yielded over 200 different students engaging in our activities during the day. Desk based activities that develop student problem solving, resilience and digital skills.
Zioxi designed the Skills Hub to include multiple areas for collaborative learning through the use of Vito poseur height project tables with integrated desktop power and our D-end Collaborative Tables. Flexible S41 wedge soft seating and S41 Tables were dotted throughout the space, which provided students with lots of different places to work.
We even designed them their very own bespoke mobile device charging station, which housed up to 64 devices with a poseur height collaborative worksurface on top.
