City St George’s University of London – Collaborative M1’s

Overview

City St George’s University of London, was recently formed through the merger of City, University of London and St George’s, University of London, combining the academic excellence and healthcare specialisms of both historic institutions. This merger has created new opportunities for investment in innovative learning environments, aiming to support cutting-edge education in both healthcare and the sciences.

One of the flagship developments from this union is the brand-new Radiotherapy and Oncology Simulation training room. Designed as a state-of-the-art facility, the room equips students with the skills and experience to plan and deliver radiotherapy treatment in a realistic clinical setting.

The Challenge

The University needed a flexible, technology-enabled learning environment where students could engage collaboratively whilst using specialist software and tools integral to their training. The space had to accommodate different teaching styles – from large-group instruction to small-group collaboration – and integrate technology seamlessly.

The Solution

Zioxi was chosen to help realise the University’s vision, supplying and installing our M1 Collaborative Tables. These desks are specifically designed to support modern pedagogy, allowing for rapid shifts between teacher-led, group-based, and individual learning.

M1 Collaborative Desk features:

  • Integrated IT provision with the option to reveal or hide screens
  • Flexible layouts to support both lecture-style teaching and collaborative working
  • Power and data management for a tidy, cable-free workspace
  • Robust and elegant design fitting a state-of-the-art clinical training environment

Our installation team worked closely with the University’s project managers to ensure the solution met the exacting standards required for a clinical simulation setting.

The Result

The completed Radiotherapy and Oncology Simulation training room now offers a cutting-edge learning environment. The M1 Desks provide the flexibility to transform the space quickly depending on the training needs, with students easily able to switch between using IT equipment and engaging in group discussions or practical demonstrations.

Feedback from the University has been overwhelmingly positive, highlighting how the combination of Zioxi’s integrated IT desks, and the new facilities, enhances the students’ learning experience – preparing them better for clinical practice.

Conclusion

The partnership between Zioxi and City St George’s University of London demonstrates how innovative furniture solutions can play a crucial role in delivering modern, flexible healthcare education. As City St George’s continues to grow following the merger, it is spaces like these that are setting new benchmarks for student experience and clinical training.
