  • Everton in the Community – Digital Skills Hub

Working in partnership with CreativeHut, we were part of an exciting project working with Everton in the Community (EitC) & Everton Football Club.

Overview

Working in partnership with CreativeHut, Zioxi were lucky enough to be part of an incredibly exciting project, working with Everton In The Community (EitC) and Everton Football Club. Situated just 500 metres away from Goodison Park, ‘The People’s Place’ will be the first purpose-built mental health hub attached to a Premier League Club when it opens in early 2023.

The People’s Place will provide the community in Merseyside with a dedicated space to promote mental and physical wellbeing, providing a vital service to the community whilst helping alleviate pressure on local health services.

Alongside the well-being hub, will be a new Digital Skills Hub to tackle the skills gap in Merseyside. The award-winning charity, Everton in the Community, is behind the initiative which will equip people in Merseyside with sought after digital skills and inspire an interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths (STEAM) subjects. The new Digital Skills Lab will be available to students from schools across Liverpool.

“The official charity of Everton FC is ensuring no child in Merseyside is left behind as it aims to combat an ever-increasing skills gap between disadvantaged young people and jobs within digital/STEAM industries. It comes as official stats show digital careers in STEAM are set to double over the next 10 years.”

The digital lab provides an inspiring and creative environment to house the E-STEAM programme. Zioxi worked alongside CreativeHut to design and furnish the spaces to enable the STEAM learning activities to take place in the most effective way. For the Inspiration Zone, Zioxi provided the very flexible and reconfigurable 60 degree t41 tables and t41 Roundels. The mobile tables, have a flip-up work surface, which means all the tables can be easily stacked away when the space needs to be completely cleared.

Brightly coloured cantilever student chairs coordinated perfectly with the colour scheme. The cantilever frame of the chair means that they can be easily placed on top of the t41 tables, to enable the space to be reconfigured more easily.

In the Family Zone space suitable for the younger children, Zioxi added fun shaped tables, which can be placed together for collaborative activities or separated for smaller project working.

A 16 bay laptop charging trolley enable the mobile devices to be stored securely to ensure they are charged and ready for the next activity.

“ The launch of the Digital Skills Lab is not only crucial to the Liverpool City region; it is essential in setting the benchmark of how learning experiences can be delivered to all students across the UK.”
