Overview

Jesmond Gardens Primary School in situated in Hartlepool, which is among the top 10% most deprived areas in the country. The local Council wanted Jesmond Gardens to be a key driver for change. They wanted to create a school around “transformational learning”: pupils, would be grouped together by ability, rather than age, and spaces would be highly sustainable, flexible, and welcoming.

Throughout the school, each key stage has its own “learning base” – a large space that can accommodate up to ninety children. Zioxi were given the task to equip each space with mobile, agile furniture so the layout can be easily changed. The Zioxi t41 Agile Student Tables were used throughout, but each area looks and feels completely different, because the teachers and students have been able to create the learning space that best suits the needs of the children. The Zioxi t41 Agile Student Tables can be arranged in rows, waves, collaborative groups, individual desks, or flip the top up and stack them together to clear a space – you’re in control of your classroom layout.

With quiet areas, snugs, and a library the school is designed to deliver truely personalised learning that also takes advantage of the best that ICT has to offer.
