Saver Recycling, a leading recycling service provider covering the area of West Brabant in The Netherlands, plays a critical role in waste management by collecting and processing recyclable materials. They collect household waste on behalf of seven municipalities (Roosendaal, Halderberge, Bergen op Zoom, Rucphen, Zundert Steenbergen and Woensdrecht).
With a fleet of 130 drivers who navigate various routes daily, the company’s operations involve complex logistics and manual documentation, which until recently, had been reliant on paper-based systems. Previously, Saver Recycling’s drivers were burdened with paperwork, including route schedules, delivery logs, and collection confirmations. Additionally, maintaining the physical documentation and ensuring drivers had access to up-to-date information on the road posed a significant challenge.
In order to streamline operations and improve efficiency, Saver Recycling decided to implement a fully digital solution. The company replaced paper-based systems with Samsung Galaxy Tab Active LTE S3 devices, which provided drivers with real-time updates of their daily routes, collection points, and customer information. This shift to a digital system eliminated the need for paper documentation, reducing the chances of errors and improving the overall efficiency of the collection process.
The tablet devices belong to the company and need to be stored securely and charged on the premises at the end of the working day. Zioxi’s range of Volt Tablet Charging Lockers suited their requirements perfectly. We were also able to offer them the ‘Break-fix mode’ of operation which allows drivers with a non-functioning tablet to return it to base and, with a tap of their RFID card, pick up a fresh device. The locker will then email the IT department to inform them of the broken tablet device, so that it can be repaired. Additionally, the lockers ensured the tablets were always securely stored and charged, reducing the risk of downtime due to uncharged devices.
‘Samen aan de bak’ is an initiative of Saver in collaboration with the seven municipalities . The aim is to separate the waste in this region as well as possible, so that the amount of residual waste is reduced and as many good raw materials as possible can be recycled. As a green company, they particularly liked the ability to use Zioxi’s onView Technology to allow them to use ‘Green Charge’ to ensure that the tablet devices are charged at the time of lowest carbon generation. This technology has not only streamlined logistics, but also positioned the company for future growth in the rapidly evolving recycling industry.
